Who is Guðbjörg Ylfa?

Guðbjörg Ylfa is a fashion and portrait photographer. Inspired by 19th Century Romanticism for her own personal work. She uses a juxtaposition of light and dark as she sets out to make modern images that respond to and reference both the dreamlike and ethereal as well as the dark and eerie qualities of that period.  

Originally from Iceland but currently based in Norwich, the dramatic landscape from home has hugely inspired her work and she enjoys capturing the breathtaking views during her trips, which she incorporates into some of her work in post production. She was brought up listening to stories of folklore and myths, which has shaped a lot of her work.
